Dog Days 2020

Overview:

Set in London, this short film portrays the relationship between a 14-year-old girl, Mia, and her Italian mother, Ann. On the edge of divorce, Ann is evading the decision to leave the UK to take better care of Mia. Mia, however, doesn’t understand her mother’s struggle and engages in stealing to escape from her depressing family environment. When Mia gets caught one day, she must face up to the frustration she and her mother share.

Director Statement:

This film is made by an all-female crew. As women in our 20s, we are now able to see the idea of being a mother from a wider point of view, yet we still remember being young and rebellious, with ineffable feelings that were a mixture of love and hate. This has been our main motivation in creating Dog Days, which captures the feelings of loneliness and frustration in mother-daughter relationships.
